GPX (GPS Exchange Format) is the universal open standard for outdoor spatial navigation. Yet over the last decade, commercial fitness platforms have steadily enclosed this open ecosystem behind aggressive paywalls. Riders and hikers routinely draw a custom route only to discover that exporting the file to their own Garmin, Wahoo, or Coros device requires a monthly subscription or the purchase of a regional map bundle.
Ściežka was built on the conviction that outdoor navigation data belongs to everyone. There are no region locks, no premium export tiers, and no artificial file restrictions. When you draw a route on Ściežka, you can export a clean, standards-compliant GPX track immediately with a single click, ready for any navigation device or mapping application on Earth.
Many online route planners estimate elevation gain using coarse global grids or erratic barometric samples from social activities. This results in wild elevation exaggerations where a rolling 400-meter gravel loop is reported as 900 meters of climbing, or steep alpine switchbacks are completely flattened out.
Ściežka calculates elevation profiles using NASA SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) 30-meter digital elevation models cross-referenced with high-resolution regional topography. Every climb, summit, false flat, and steep descent is rendered with precise gradient metrics, highlighting pitches over 10%, 15%, and 20% so you can pace your efforts accurately.
A raw line on a map is only half the battle when navigating unfamiliar territory at speed. Ściežka analyzes OpenStreetMap road geometry, junction topologies, and street names to synthesize crisp turn-by-turn navigation cues automatically. Each cue specifies the turn direction, junction distance, road name, and highway classification.
In addition to digital cues embedded within your GPX export, Ściežka features a dedicated cockpit roadbook generator. You can convert your turn cues into a printable 50mm paper cue strip formatted specifically for your bicycle stem or handlebar, delivering pro-style navigation that never runs out of battery.
One routing mode cannot fit every outdoor discipline. A fast road cyclist seeks pristine tarmac with minimal traffic signals, a gravel grinder wants smooth unpaved doubletracks away from vehicle exhaust, an MTB rider hunts technical singletrack, and a hiker requires walking paths with SAC trail difficulty ratings. Generic route planners fail because they treat all paths as interchangeable lines.
Ściežka routes every discipline using the custom Brukar engine. Brukar evaluates physical highway attributes, surface types, smoothness classifications, incline limits, and legal access tags to craft optimal routes tailored specifically to road bikes, gravel rigs, mountain bikes, or foot travel. You can toggle disciplines seamlessly while building your route.
Already have a GPX file from an event organizer, friend, or past ride? Drag and drop any GPX, FIT, or TCX file directly into Ściežka. You can inspect its full elevation and surface breakdown, reverse the direction with one click, append new detours, add resupply waypoints, or reshape sections using natural language with the AI Route Copilot.
Once refined, export your updated GPX track back to your device or share it via a clean, privacy-respecting public route snapshot that friends can view without creating an account or installing proprietary apps.
